Seongnaecheon

  • Seongnaecheon is flowing Han River through Macheondong, Ogeumdong and Pungnapdong and plays a role to Songpa which reforms ‘a city of water’. Also, it gives people who come Seongnae river pleasure coming honeybees, butterflies, birds, raccoon, and marsh snail which only lives in the clear water as it changed natural river by virtue of rehabilitation work starting from 2002. In this river, creating fountain and jar pool as the summer resort inside of downtown, 36 kinds of birds like herons, 7 kinds of fishes such as carps and 126 kinds of insects like ladybugs live in harmony. Seongnae River that is attraction coming 10,000 people in the mid-summer is a treasure of Songpa because it is selected ‘South Korea’s top 100 beautiful river’ by the Ministry of Country Transportation in 2009.

    • Self-generation of wet land plants including reed, water lily and Typha angustata
    • Hobby, protected species designated by the Ministry of Environment, great spotted woodpecker, nightingale, and common kingfisher, species managed by Seoul City, are observed
    • Variety of life forms including herptiles such as tree frog, Korean Brown Frog, and Narrow-mouth frog inhabit the area.

Resource Recycling Park

  • Since its opening in November 2011, the Songpa Resource Recycling Park has stably treated all domestic waste in the Songpa area with its system capable of the eco-friendly disposal of waste and efficient resource recycling.
    The park is not just a waste treatment facility, but a park open to the public with wooden benches and rooftop gardens. A promotional hall operating in the Central Support Center building allows residents and students to learn about the importance of resource recycling and experience the proper separation and disposal of recyclable waste.

Park tour and experimental program reservation

  • After making a reservation for individual or group tours via telephone, fill out the application form and send it to the park office via e-mail or fax.
  • Group members ages six or over can participate in craft programs using recyclable waste depending on the tour date and time
