Toseongsanseong Eoul-gil

  • The Toseongsanseong Eoul-gil is a cultural exploration trail that was designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. It begins at Mongchontoseong Station. The 19.6km trail leads to Olympic Park, Seongnaecheon Stream, and Macheon Traditional Market and ends at Namhansanseong Fortress. The name of the course is derived from its starting and ending points. The trail’s attractions, which cover the themes of culture, nature, and markets, provide visitors with an unprecedented sightseeing adventure that has been duly recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism in its booklet titled The Beauty of This Road. Highlighting the culture and history of the area, there is an ancient relic from the Baekje Dynasty, the Mongchontoseong Fortress, and the Mongchon Museum of History. There is also the Seoul Baekje Museum that opened last April, Namhansanseung Fortress, the Olympic Park, and SOMA. The area’s nature and eco assets include Seongnaecheon Stream, which was designated as one of the Top 100 Beautiful Streams in Korea; the widely recognized Bangi Marsh; and the scenic Namhansan Mountain. The endless opportunities for tourists to have some culinary adventures begins at the Macheon Marketplace.

How to best enjoy the Toseongsanseong Eoul-gil!

  • The Eoul-gil is made up of two main trails. The first trail course is the Mongchontosung Fortress Course (7.6km) and the second is the Namhansanseong Fortress Course (12km). The Macheon Traditional Marketplace is located between these two courses. This allows visitors to start from Mongchontoseong Station in the morning, walk through Olympic Park and Seongnaecheon Stream for 2.5 hours and arrive at the market in time for lunch. After lunch visitors can then explore the second course, which will take a total of less than five hours to complete, during which visitors will have been able to enjoy interesting sights, food, and fun while learning about the history and nature of the area. These courses are a great one-day adventure!

  • Sincheon Ttubeogi Street
Sincheon was considered a market area until the early 1990s. Today, however, called by a more friendly name "Ttubeogi Street," it has been transformed into a new recreational area popular among young people. As the area is usually very crowded, some places are used as meeting points. One of the famous places to rendez-vous is Jamsil Catholic Church where hordes of people gather every weekend. Once their friends or lovers arrive, where do they go to have fun? They have many options here. Sports centers where they can play indoor baseball and engage in shooting games, and photo machine booths to take fun pictures together using various props. But the highlight of a Sincheon tour is its traditional market. What is most attractive about this market is the bargains waiting to be found. Walking around the market in a nostalgic, warm vibe, visitors soon find themselves hungry. Simple but delicious foods are found on every corner of the market whetting the appetites of visitors. This street allows all who come to have a good time anytime, weekdays or weekends, without burden.
  • Munjeong-dong Rodeo Street
There are many shopping streets in Seoul, but few are fit for both the fun of walking and sight-seeing. Munjeong-dong Rodeo Street was a secluded residential area on the outskirts of Seoul until the early 1990s. But since 1995, foreign luxury apparel brands have opened here one by one, and now the area has become one of the most popular shopping streets in the city. The biggest advantage of shopping here is that one can buy excellent products at 40% to 70% lower prices at over 200 fashion discount stores. With the unique facade and signboards on display distinguishing each store, non-shoppers will have plenty to see enjoying themselves. Walking along the street, the unique colors, designs, and high-end fashion products on display capture the eye at all corners of the street. Even those not interested in fashion can gain some insight into fashion here.
  • Garden Five
Garden Five is a complex living space where visitors can satisfy their five senses in one place without having to visit several places. This large shopping mall, which houses more than 4,000 stores, is a one-stop special cultural zone accommodating a multiplex cinema, bookstore, exhibition halls, spa facilities, production facilities, basic industrial goods sales facilities, and logistics facilities. There are also areas where shoppers can relax amid the hustle and bustle including the Sky Parasol Zone, Sky Park and Wind Garden. Recently opened Four Seasons Park and Garden Five Life (Block Ga) has become very popular among visitors. In the complex, Eco Garden is composed of the Sky Cafe and wildflower garden, and Well-Being Garden consists of a freehand exercise zone, an acupressure therapy zone, and a herb farm. Cinema Garden is used as a venue for movie-related events and film props exhibitions, and Festival Garden houses a performance hall that can accommodate more than 500 people at a time.
